This new method is the latest innovation in the field of facial rejuvenation. It is suitable for anybody who has a marked photo-aged skin and involves a very short post-treatment.
A roll with more than 100 fine short needles (half a millimetre long) is repeatedly passed over the anatomic area to be treated. The passage of the roll over the skin which is carried out without anaesthesia, creates thousands of small holes and is completely painless neither does it cause bleeding of any kind. Subsequently, a substance (5-delta-aminolevilinic acid) is applied to the skin, which is a precursor of another substance (protoporphyrin IX) already present in the skin cells. After an incubation period, ranging from 75’ to 180', aged and/or unhealthy cells will have selectively concentrated this substance. Thus, the patient is firstly treated with pulsed light for damage such as small capillaries and blemishes and later with a red light for 12’. At the end of the treatment, the skin will appear reddened and tend to flake for a few days. Finally, the patient should not expose him- or herself to sun light for 48 hours.
The photo-peeling effect associated with the capillary and blemish treatment ensures an optimum result on all skins that have been exposed to sun light in an excessive or erroneous way.
