![]() In the Hospitadella clinic, the safeguard of the health of patients is a fundamental point. For this reason, the utmost attention is paid in avoiding contamination by bacteria and viruses. All the materials we use are disposable (gloves, masks, needles, tags, saliva suction devices, etc.) or it is sterilised in the autoclave. Cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms, chairs, displays, switches and tables are always carried out scrupulously and with best quality products, before the patient enters and after the patient has left. Disposable shields called Disposal-Shields are applied on cords, suction tubes, all of the dental equipment and parts of the dental chairs, which could get into contact with the operators' hands or the patient's mouth, and replaced at the end of each session. This is useful to prevent viruses and bacteria nesting into the most delicate parts of the chair and also avoids the transmission of cross infections from one patient to another. All hand pieces, turbines and instruments are cleaned, disinfected and sterilised according to strict international guidelines and protocols. Each one of our three centres is equipped with ultrasound tanks for decontamination from all organic residues, whether visible or invisible to the naked eye, by using enzymatic disinfectants, professional high quality instrument washers and powerful (class B), 180 Litre steam autoclaves the most sophisticated on today’s market, which are also used in some hospitals. At the end of the procedure, the instruments are absolutely sterile and packed in sealed packaging that will be opened in front of you. A special mention should be made of the water treatment that reaches the Hospitadella operating rooms, which is firstly softened and pre-filtered ensuring the absence of macromolecules and subsequently is moved into inverse osmosis modules (nanofiltration), reducing to a minimum the levels of nitrites, nitrates, bacteria and viruses that may be present. To ensure total safety, water used for irrigation during surgical operations is contained in sterile bags. Even the air supplied to the operating rooms undergoes a special treatment to keep the amount of bacteria to minimum levels: each room is equipped with a system that enables to change the air at least eight times per hour. In addition, during the night, air is cleaned and micro-nebulized with disinfectant and ionising agents which capture the suspended micro particles and bacteria, carrying out the so-called “air cleansing” cycle. |
